Curiouser and Curiouser...

We are all mad here.

Tide….

I do not like the new Tide commercial I’ve just seen where it is a prissy, girly mother and her young daughter is wearing a camo hoodie, green cargo shorts and is apparently making a car garage out of wood blocks. The commercial has the mother saying how she tried to make her daughter wear a ton of pink but all she likes is hoodies and cargo shorts. She was “worried” when her daughter left crayons in the cargo shorts she was wearing and still went through the wash. “Luckily” Tide got the stains out. She has a clear look on her face that all her daughter’s clothes should have got ruined.

Now, I get the novelty of the commercial but I do not like the message of my daughter is female therefore should wear pink and they are pushing the stereotype that if girls don’t act like girls, ie play with Barbies and notblcoks, they must be lesbian (driven home with the point that the daughter was also wearing camo, that is another lesbian stereotype).

It bothers me that parents will not let their kids be who they are. When I was a child, I threw a fit if I couldn’t wear a dress everyday. When I was in high school, I wore baggy pants and t shirts and now I’m back to girly. My parents never showed outrage or pushed fashions on me. I did y own thing.

Let kids be kids dammit.
